Many people who live here know each other, which makes the atmosphere somewhat village-like. At the weekend and on Monday mornings there are lively markets in the Jordaan and on the Noordermarkt with special items, bric and brac, clothing and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. In the area there is a variety of nice boutiques, good restaurants and entertainment venues. About 50 meters left of the main entrance of the apartment is a picnic boat and a play boat for children.
